CMJTS receives a $10,000 grant through the Greater Twin Cities United Way Career Academies Opportunity.
CMJTS is thrilled to announce a groundbreaking initiative that will transform the landscape of youth engagement and amplify youth voices within career pathway programs. This transformative project is a collaborative effort involving key partners such as CMJTS, Elk River Schools, Lakes and Pines CAC Inc, LYFT Career Pathways, Willmar Public School District, Elk River Adult Basic Education (ABE), CentraCare, MN DEED’s Vocational Rehabilitation Services (VRS), and CMJTS YOUnite youth group, all of whom have a strong connection with at-risk youth.
The initiative addresses the crucial gap identified through extensive stakeholder engagement, including student feedback, community input, and collaboration with educational entities. By incorporating the voices of local youth into the design of career pathway programs and opportunities, it seeks to ensure that these programs meet the needs and goals of the youth they serve.
Key components of the initiative include a needs assessment, stakeholder mapping, establishment of a diverse Youth Advisory Committee, capacity building, technology integration, and participatory workshops. By placing youth at the forefront of the decision-making process, the project aims to set a new standard for high-quality career pathways that prioritize youth voice and inclusivity.
“We are excited about the potential of this initiative to empower young people, amplify their voices, and create pathways to success that truly reflect their needs and aspirations,” said Diana Ristamaki, Youth Program Manager. “Through strategic partnerships and comprehensive engagement strategies, we aim to set a new standard for high-quality career pathways while ensuring a sustainable approach to youth programming.”
The initiative represents a significant step forward in empowering youth and creating an environment where their voices are not only heard but actively shape the programs and opportunities available to them. For more information, please get in touch with Diana Ristamaki at [email protected].
