Connecting with Opportunity
CMJTS youth programs reinforce the connection between skills acquired on the job and skills learned in school. In turn, youth are encouraged to complete school or explore vocational opportunities. By working with CMJTS and its partner organizations, youth learn valuable life-long skills that benefit them both in their personal and their promising professional lives.
- Learning:
Academic activities are integrated with work experiences. Basic skills prepare students for the workplace.
- Citizenship:
In the classroom and on the job, youth are taught teamwork skills, social awareness, problem solving and civic responsibility.
- Employment::
Practical, on-the-job work skills like punctuality, safety and effective interpersonal communication are learned.
Investing in a Workforce
With state, federal and private sector funding, CMJTS affords youth the opportunity to earn wages, receive academic credit and obtain experience that will last a lifetime.
Youth are not the only ones with something to gain. Employers are provided with a pool of potential future employees. If you are an employer interested in providing work-related experiences to youth, there are several ways you can do so. You can hire a young person, sponsor them in a community project or volunteer to teach them about the world of work.
By opening their businesses to tours, job shadowing internships or mentoring, employers can shape their future workforce.
