Adult WIA (WorkForce Investment Act)

Connect with Work through the WorkForce Investment Act

CMJTS is a non-profit organization that administers a federally-funded program through the Workforce Investment Act (WIA). This act provides opportunities for work skills training and job search assistance to increase employability and earnings potential. Our professional employment specialists will assist you in preparing for your next job.

We offer:

  • Skills and Interest Identification:
Build a bridge between your skills and employment opportunities. Learn how you can find job satisfaction. Identify personal work interests, values and skills.
  • Career Planning:
Identify your goals and develop a plan for reaching them. Access information on growth industries, wage trends, job descriptions, and the training needed for specific occupations.
  • Classroom and On-the-Job Training:
CMJTS coordinates classroom and on-the-job-training to help you prepare for rewarding employment opportunities.
  • Job Search Assistance:
Update your resume and learn to write cover letters with help from your employment specialist. Fax and copy machines, Internet access, and telephones are available free of charge for job search. We'll also help you connect with job openings listed in Minnesota's Job Bank and other resources. We have relationships with employers throughout our 11-county area. A business in your community may be looking for someone just like you!
  • Support Services:
Support services may be available to those experiencing economic hardship and may include financial support for work uniforms, tools, childcare assistance, gasoline, car repair, and relocation expenses.
