 Expecting, Supporting, and
Rewarding Work
MFIP is a work-focused program that emphasizes economic stability
for families receiving federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families
(TANF) funding. It is designed to encourage work and assist with soft
skills, job-seeking skills, problem solving, career laddering, and
building work experience. This proven approach effectively increases
income while promoting economic stability and independence. MFIP Employment
Specialists work closely with county human services staff to help
customers achieve their employment and economic stability goals. Customers
are referred to Central MN Jobs & Training Services (CMJTS) by
county human services staff to help them meet the programs’
guidelines for seeking and obtaining employment.
Services Provided:
- Job Seeking Skills Classes:
Assist with interview preparation, information on how to fill out application, resumes, cover letters, and soft skills training
- Resume Writing:
Individualized assistance with skills identification, matching skills to current job opportunities, and completing a resume
- Job Search Resources:
Career assessment, assistance with accessing child care resources, resolving transportation concerns and internet job search
- Coaching and Soft Skills:
Individual goal setting and problem solving assistance
- Support Services:
Determined on an individual and funding basis to assist with removing barriers to employment
- Community Resource and Referral
