ABE (Adult Basic Education)

Adult Basic Education is offered at our Monticello and Olivia locations.

Training is available in the following areas at our Monticello location:

  • GED pre-tests and GED peparation
  • Introduction to computers: keyboarding, Windows, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases
  • Preparation for the Acu-Placer and ASAP, enterance exams for Minnesota community colleges
  • Resume preparation assistance
  • Basic skills instruction: reading, writing, and math
  • Preparation for Certified Nursing Assistant coursework
  • Preparation for Special License exam
  • Preparation for Ability Benefit Assessment (necessary without a GED or HS Diploma for post-secondary education)
  • Preparation for Minnesota Written Driver's Exam leading to a driver's permit
  • Learning Neeeds Screening (initial inventory for possible LD indicators)
  • Referrals for English as a Second Language (ESL) and Adult Diploma instruction
  • Certificates for successful client participation are awarded
  • Attendance/class hours are tracked
  • Hours may qualify for MFIP job search plan requirements.
  • All instruction services are free

    • Getting started on the computer

    • Other software programs in math, spelling, vocabulary, etc.
  • ELS and Citizenship
